SELECTION COMMITTEE: A selection committee comprised of the Festival committee, filmmakers, educators, and children screens entries received by the Festival in their entirety. The Selection Committee approves films and videos for Festival participation and for competition.

CRITERIA
Criteria for selection:

1. The action of the film should be authentic, child-driven and the content should speak positively to children of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
2. Films and videos submitted to KidzFlix should be made for, rather than about children
3. Film content should be creative, highly original, and demonstrate artistic and technical mastery
4. Content should provide strong role models for boys and girls

Criteria for non-acceptance of films into the festival include:

1. Excessive or gratuitous violence, nudity or profanity
2. Content that advocates and supports racial, cultural, religious or gender bias
3. Films and videos may also be disqualified for technical or procedural reasons:
4. Any film or tape not subtitled or dubbed into the English language (This is enforced for both submission and Festival screening purposes. Scripts or dialogue lists may not be sent as a substitution for this rule)
5. Films and videos that are purely educational or instructional in nature
6. Films and videos that are intended primarily for an adult audience

NOTIFICATION OF FESTIVAL STATUS: The Festival will inform all entrants no later than the January 5, 2010, whether their submission have been accepted. Preview DVDs, tapes and support materials of all films submitted for consideration cannot be returned.

FESTIVAL FORMAT OF FILMS AND VIDEOS SELECTED: For Festival screening, we are able to screen a wide range of formats:  35mm, NTSC BetaSp, DVD (NTSC, PAL and region coded DVD), and DigiBeta (NTSC and PAL). The Festival format that you indicate on the entry form must be the format that you provide for screening. However, to allow for multiple screenings, the Festival may request you to provide an additional format.
